Timeshare Exit vs. Resale: What's the Difference?

A resale company tries to find a buyer for your timeshare, which rarely happens because most timeshares have little resale value. A timeshare exit company ends your contract with the resort so your mortgage and maintenance fees stop. If your goal is to stop paying, exit is usually the more reliable path.

Why resale so often fails

Resorts sell new inventory at full price, so the resale market is crowded and prices are low. Many resale companies charge upfront fees whether or not a buyer ever appears.

How exit works

An exit company works directly with the resort to terminate or release your contract. You don't need a buyer, and once complete, you no longer owe fees.

Should I pay a resale company upfront?

Be very cautious. Upfront fees with no buyer are one of the most common timeshare scams.
